Phuktal gompa -Jammu and Kashmir (India )



PhUKTAl gompa (PhukTAl MoNASTRY)  is a monastry   in south eastern  of a janskar ,ladakh  in northern india. FoUnDEd In early  12th CENTURy by GanGseM sherap sampo  TiBeTAn buddhist guru . it is a  Holiest  place of pilgriMage for TibtianBuddhist .It iS locAtEd On ThE MoUtH Of  a cAVe on the cLiFF face of  lateral gorge of a major tribuTary of the Lungnak (Lingti-Tsarap) River.



ThE  foundation of monasTrY  is made up of  wood and mud There has four prayer rooms and a library. Frescoes and ceiling decorate the old chapel and are popular with tourists.ToDaY thE MonAstRy iS hoMe to arOuNd  70 MoNkS .the monks are   extremely friendly in nature. The monks of the monastery carry out the sacred Cham dance during the Gustor festiVaL which is ceLebrated during the 18th and 19th day of the Tibetan 12th moNth.There is no guest house or hotels at Phuktal. Tourists can find arrangements for stay at the monastery.Options to eat are limited at Phuktal. Monks provide food to visitors otherwise there are no options to eat. It would be advisable to carry food hampers during their visit to the monastery.
